Christo (Christo Vladimirov Javacheff, June 13, 1935 – ) and Jeanne-Claude (Jeanne-Claude Denat de Guillebon, June 13, 1935 – November 18, 2009) Born the same day, they married and created environmental works that included the wrapping of the Reichstag in Berlin and the Pont-Neuf Bridge in Paris.

  1. ciao! i remember visiting two of their installations, in miami, ‘surrounded islands’ was the project in which they draped the islands off biscayne bay in a pink fabric and in new york’s central park the installation of ‘the gates’. from ‘the gates’ installtion, i have a piece of this fabric. both still vivid in mind.

  2. Christo ran part of his running fence to the sea thru our ranch. nice man, Jeanne-Claude … well, she was good with the political side. seemed that was part of the art. 😉

    1. How interesting – small world Ah… politics are a part of life. For me, it is only beauty I seek. I find that many people need to be told what is art before they accept that it is indeed art.
