    1. This year, on my birthday I took this quote for my thought for this year!!!

      “With mirth and laughter let old wrinkles come.”
      ― William Shakespeare

      This is the best time of my life – enjoying every moment! And I am so glad that we are on the same pathway….

  1. Dear Rebecca,
    what a great combination of picture and quote. Rembrandt is for me light and darkness, well, the drama of light and darkness. I saw a lot of his paintings in the museums and was always taken by this drama.

    1. Ah, my dear friend, how well said – “the drama of light and darkness.”

      BTW, I saw those wonderful photos of your beaches on Dina’s blog! I could feel the wind through the cables; I closed my eyes and visualized being there….
      Big hugs coming back from sunny Vancouver. I was out on the water taxi today. There is something about being near an ocean.

      I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,
      To the gull’s way and the whale’s way where the wind’s like a whetted knife;
      And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,
      And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

  2. I took an art history course in college as an elective. Thank goodness for a friend’s prior notes as it was one of the hardest courses I ever took. But also one of the most memorable.

    1. Oh Meme!! I can imagine how much work that course was. Art and history are difficult because the ideas are expansive and profoundly moving. And then there is the idea of time. It is not easy to cover decades, much less centuries within the duration of a course. Thanks so much for stopping by!! 🙂

  3. to be a one name guy — that’s some accomplishment. Did he have his fame even then? Now days to be a one name star one merely leaks a racy home video.

    I only say this because I was surprised to see his full name. I had not encountered it before.

    1. He was very famous in his day. His life was extraordinary; he was prolific and innovative. Yet, in his later years, he experienced personal tragedy and financial hardships. His full name was Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn.
