Happy Birthday to the artist and illustrator who gave us the magnificent illustrations for the novels of Edgar Rice Burroughs – Tarzan and John Carter of Mars
Isn’t it strange that we always seem to remember the authors, not the illustrators. I recall reading the Tarzan and John Carter novels, but what stuck in my memories was the book covers! Until I looked up this name a couple of days ago, I had no idea who J. Allen St. John was! I learn something new everyday!
Glad you posted this.
And I am glad that you stopped by!!! Looking forward to our ongoing dialogue! 🙂
Oh how well I remember and loved these!! Thanks for the wonderful post~
Me too!! In fact, I just went on Amazon and found out that the collection is available via Kindle at a very low price! Love this new technology!!!
Just googled and they are indeed magnificent illustrations.

It is through blogging that I am developing a great appreciation of the illustrators.
I agree wholeheartedly! A great deal of thought goes into determining which photo/painting/doodle reflects and augments the post.
Indeed.
🙂
ha ha — I think I strained an eyeball or three on those 🙂
Me too!!! 😆 I was trying to make it seem like a rain forest!! You do make me smile!!! 🙂
To use an Edgar Rice Burrows term, I guess we would be Barsoom buddies 🙂
