#FridayPainting: Juan Roig y Soler “Two Spanish Dancers”

Juan Roig y Soler is an unknown name to me. To find information about his life and art, I happened upon Wikipedia in Spanish. I used a translator app to provide a brief background.

Born in Barcelona in 1852, Juan Roig y Soler was a prominent landscaper as well as an artist. His paintings were exhibited in Madrid, Zaragoza and Paris. He used a delicate technique to paint seascapes and urban landscapes.

The Library of Catalonia holds his notebook/manuscript which contain meticulous notes on the paintings he sold, their price and the person or entity that acquired them.

April 29, 2021 was International Dance Day, which was created by the Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute (ITI), the main partner for the performing arts of UNESCO.

April 29th – the global celebration of dance.

Juan Roig y Soler’s “Two Spanish Dancers” holds the energy and beauty of dance.
